ALEXANDRIA, Va. — NCUA said Monday it will provide free consulting services to nearly 180 credit unions during the second half of the year.
The services will be offered through NCUA's Office of Small Credit Union Initiatives, and will be facilitated by the agency's team of economic development specialists, who will offer CUs assistance with budgeting, marketing, policy development, strategic planning and more.
"OSCUI's consulting program is a valuable part of our efforts to help credit unions succeed in a changing economic environment and provide needed services to their members," NCUA chairman Debbie Matz said in a statement. "Consultants help credit unions think strategically, develop plans and position themselves for future success."
In order for a CU to be eligible for the services, it must have been chartered for fewer than 10 years and hold assets of less than $50 million. Low-income designation and minority depository institutions were also eligible.
The 179 participating CUs range in size from $87,000 in assets to more than $100 million. Just over 20% of participating institutions are minority depositories.
