Two of this state's largest credit unions have applied with the state regulator for community charters. Both Freedom Credit Union and Trumark Financial Credit Union, Trevose, Penn., are seeking community charters for five Pennsylvania counties in the Philadelphia area. In addition, Freedom also wants to serve Gloucester, Camden and Burlington counties in South Jersey. The Pennsylvania Department of Banking said several local banks are protesting the applications.
