A+ Federal Credit Union gave back more than $2.8 million to its members in 2016 as part of the Austin-based credit union’s rewards program.

The $1.3 billion credit union said members saved some $1.4 million in interest rate discounts on new loans, reduced real estate origination fees, and increased rates on certificates.

A+FCU also reported that it gave back over $375,000 to local Central Texas communities last year, including $76,000 in scholarships to 38 graduating high school seniors and college students; continued support of the RaiseUP Texas program; contributions to Education Foundations that provide grants for teachers; support for organizations like Boy Scouts of America Capitol Area Council, Girl Scouts of Central Texas, and Boys and Girls Club.

In addition to donations and sponsorships, A+FCU employees volunteered more than 4,100 hours to help schools, school districts, community organizations and more.

“Giving back to the communities we serve is an important part of our culture,” said A+FCU CEO Kerry A. S. Parker. “We especially focus on programs that foster financial education for our youth and community members.”
