Align Credit Union expands field of membership

Align Credit Union in Lowell, Mass., has added two counties to its field of membership.

The $595 million-asset institution said on Monday that the Massachusetts Division of Banks approved its expanded field of membership so it can now serve those who life, work or attend school in Suffolk and Norfolk counties.

It can also serve 111 cities in Massachusetts and 47 in New Hampshire.

“Align Credit Union is a not-for-profit, member-owned financial institution,” Tom Hammond, Align’s chief financial officer, said in a press release. “We’re not driven by sales goals or profits. We’re driven by our commitment to help members get the best out of banking. By adding Suffolk and Norfolk counties, we are able to help even more members make smart financial decisions.”

Align earned roughly $1.2 million through June 30, about four times what it made from the same period a year earlier, according to call report data. Its total interest income jumped by about 13%, to $11.2 million, through June 30 from a year earlier.
