FORT WORTH, Texas – American Airlines CU John Tippets drove to the music shop in nearby Farmers Branch to surprise one of his members, 23-year-old Spencer Deaton, with a new Toyota FJ Cruiser, the grand prize of the credit union’s ‘Road to Success’ sweepstakes.
The credit union CEO was on hand at The Guitar Center Monday with 20 of Deaton’s co-workers to give the winner the keys to his new car. Deaton, whose father used to work at the credit union’s corporate sponsor, American Airlines, opened his first account as a teenager and went to college with a loan form the credit union.
The $4 billion credit union gave out five vehicles worth $150,000 to lucky members who qualified for the drawings by opening one or more new accounts in 2007.
Other winners received a Ford Escape Hybrid, a Ford Edge, a Chevrolet Silverado and a Chevrolet Tahoe.
