Atlantic FCU approved for field of membership expansion

The National Credit Union Administration has approved a field of membership expansion for Atlantic Federal Credit Union in Brunswick, Maine.

The $728 million-asset credit union said on Monday that it can now serve the residents of Androscoggin County in Maine. The institution currently has nine branches with more than 48,000 members. Prior to the expansion, it could serve three counties in Maine.

“When it comes to banking, we understand people have numerous choices,” Scott Chretien, Atlantic’s CEO, said in a press release. “We look forward to being a part of the Androscoggin Community and having the privilege to earn their business. We firmly believe that better rates can lead people to a better future and a better life. At Atlantic, our simple mission is to help people do better.”

Atlantic earned $1.8 million through June 30, up almost 24% from the same period a year earlier, according to call report data.
