When consumers insert their cards into the bank's ATMs, ads will appear to present details of the institution's retirement services. The ATM messages will be part of an integrated-advertising campaign that already includes online marketing and full-page ads in national and local newspapers.

The ATM promotion is expected to have traction because B of A operates 18,600 ATMs, the second-largest fleet in the country. Ten-thousand of B of A's Windows-based ATMs will begin carrying the ads Jan. 8 in Boston, New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Charlotte, N.C.
