Johnson first appeared in June on NBC's national talent show that awards $1 million and a contract for an ongoing show in Las Vegas to one performer (CU Journal, June 29). He played a minute-and-a-half comedic serenade to David Hasselhoff, the former "Baywatch" star and one of the show's judges.

That performance landed Johnson in the show's second round in Las Vegas, where he got the news last week that he'd be moving on to Los Angeles to compete with 39 other quarterfinalists. Johnson's act was good enough to beat out 120 competitors.
