FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – Two Federal Way High School students were expelled and five others are being investigated for an alleged scheme to deposit and cash checks using BECU debit cards and PINs.

The students agreed to sell their debit cards and PINs for $500 to $1,000 to other students. After turning over their debit cards, at least three students reported them stolen. The cards and PINs allegedly were turned over to two men who used the students as “runners” to recruit other students in the scheme.
The fraudulent transactions totaled as much as $10,000, police said.
The investigation began when a father reported his son agreed at school to sell his BECU debit card and PIN to another student for $500.
