Wescom Credit Union reported that it lent $33.4 million during the recent holidays as part of its Holiday Loan program, an increase of $22-million from the same loan program during the 2004 holiday season. According to the credit union, members were preapproved for the loans, and alerted of their preapproval both via e-mail and direct mail, both of which pointed members to WCU's online banking service, eBranch. Members who used the home banking option were able to fund their loan immediately. "The success of the credit union's loan program was due in part to the convenient access for members who signed up for the loan online through Wescom's eBranch home banking service," the credit union said.
