Dempsey succeeds Gretchen Koester who retired from the $159 million credit union earlier this year.

Dempsey spent the past 11 years as president and CEO of EWEB Employees Federal Credit Union, a $23-million institution based in Eugene, Ore.

"Bob has a great deal of financial and business knowledge and we have the upmost confidence that he will bring a successful future to [Cascade]," Chris Spens, chairman of the board of directors, said in a statement. "Bob has many great ideas for continuing the rich history of [Cascade] and under his leadership we foresee great success and we will continue to meet and exceed the needs of our membership."

Before his tenure at EWEB, Dempsey served as vice president/regional manager for Sterling Savings Bank and the chief financial officer for Farmers Mutual Telephone Company. He also spent 18 years with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation as the senior liquidator in charge.

"It is an honor to accept the role of chief executive officer for Cascade Community Credit Union," said Dempsey in a statement. "I am eager to begin my service to the credit union and the Roseburg community. [Cascade] has such a rich and unique history and I look forward to continue that legacy."
