CCUL Names Room After Johnson

In recognition of Richard M. Johnson's service to the credit union movement and his pending retirement as president of WesCorp, the California league named the training facility at its offices the Richard M. Johnson Training Center. League staff surprised Johnson with a brief ribbon-cutting ceremony at the entrance to the training facility, and with a plaque honoring Johnson as a credit union visionary and commemorating the occasion. The plaque will be placed inside the training center. "I'm hardly ever speechless," said Johnson, before thanking the assembled staff. "I am most flattered by this recognition the California League has given me. I know the training room will guide credit union people through many future educational and valuable experiences in the years to come, just as it has in the past." Johnson served as interim president of the California Credit Union League in 1989 and again in 1990.
