NEW ORLEANS - (01/26/06) Top executives with theNational Federation of CDCUs will appear here Friday where theywill hand out $300,000 in grants to help area community developmentcredit unions rebuild from Hurricane Katrina. The grants will bepresented to ASI FCU, Total Community Action FCU, UNO (Universityof New Orleans) FCU and the African American CU Coalition from theFederations new Community Development Relief and RebuildingFund. The funds will help those credit unions repair branches andother infrastructure badly damaged from Hurricane Katrina,according to Rafael Morales, spokesman for the Federation. TheFederations fledgling fund has reached $750,000 fromcontributions from individuals, CDCUs, the National CU Foundationand the Shefa Fund, Morales told The Credit UnionJournal.
