COLUMBUS, Ind. – Centra CU is promoting the government’s CARS program buying up old gas-guzzlers with a ‘Worst Clunker in the World’ contest.
Centra is asking members to take a picture of their clunker and in 50 words or less describe why their clunker is the world’s worst. They can upload their photos with descriptions to Centra’s Facebook page, email them to the credit union. The member will then be entered in a drawing for a $500 payment on their Centra car or truck loan to replace their old heap.
The winner will be chosen randomly from all entries in early October.
"We know folks are very interested in the Cash for Clunkers program, so we’re offering a way to sweeten the deal a bit with an extra $500 toward the principal on their loan," said Nan Morrow, vice president of corporate development for the $840 million credit union.
