During its recent annual employee meeting, CMCU recognized three staff members who have been with the credit union for thirty years, including CEO Bob Bruns, who began in that position in 1983 when he was only 27 years old.

Ann Robbins, SVP of human resources and training, noted in a statement that "employees these days don't generally stay at one company for the duration of their careers. But we've created a culture that feels like family. It says a lot about who we are as a company that our top leaders want to remain with us and serve our members and our community. That longevity and consistency in the top ranks is one thing our members really appreciate."

Along with Bruns, the CU also recognized Karen Pellow — the CU's current CFO who started as a bookkeeper on the same day that Bruns came onboard. Pellow moved up the ranks to VP of accounting and then to CFO in 2007, and earned a degree in accounting from Queens University while working full-time at the credit union.

Rounding out the trio is Shirley Floyd, CMCU's "ambassador," focused on cultivating relationships with current and potential members. Robbins said that during the last three decades the CU has received many letters from members thanking Floyd for her help.

"While we pride ourselves on the long tenure of our veterans, we also never stop looking for talented, service-oriented people to join our team," said Robbins. "The combination of long-serving senior leaders and newcomers with fresh ideas and relevant experience makes for a solid, service-oriented culture that always puts members' needs first."
