Christian Community CU said it donated $25,000 to the Mission Aviation Fellowship, a faith-based aid group that is assisting Pakistan's recovery from a devastating earthquake. The credit union's donation, generated through its 'The Cards that Give to Missions & Ministries' program, will be used to pay for emergency satellite communication and relief and development flights to Pakistan. The funds were generated by the credit union donating a portion of interchange fees earned on credit and debit card usage that Christian Community CU has pledged to set aside for missions and ministry projects worldwide.
So far this year, the credit union has donated $200,000 to projects around the world through the program, including more than $110,000 to disaster relief projects Hurricane Katrina, last year's tsunami and the Pakistan earthquake.
