RALEIGH, N.C. – About 1,300 fish-shaped banks distributed to members of Coastal FCU were recalled because the surface paint contains excessive levels of lead.
Parents are urged by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission to take the banks away from their children immediately and bring them back to the credit union for a free replacement as soon as one is available.
No injuries have been reported.
The banks, manufactured in China, were provided as a free gift by the credit union to its members between February 2006 and September 2007.
The plaster banks are orange with white stripes and were distributed by TJ Promotions, of South El Monte, Calif.
