Columbia CU's Doss To Arizona

David Doss, the CEO of Columbia Credit Union here who led that credit union's attempt to convert to a mutual savings bank, is leaving to head Arizona State Savings & CU.

During his eight years as head of Columbia CU Doss helped build the credit union from just $200 million in assets into the largest local financial institution with almost $700 million. But Doss will forever be remembered for his role in the credit union's unsuccessful conversion bid, which NCUA found tainted with voting irregularities. One observer noted that Doss's days were probably numbered since the opponents of the conversion bid won three seats on the credit union's board and hope to win a majority of the nine seats in this spring's elections.

Arizona State Savings & CU has $950-million in assets and 119,000 members.
