Community CU here kicked off an Hispanic marketing initiative with a series of fiestas celebrating Mexican Independence Day at four of its in-store branches. The fiestas featured the credit union's prize wheel, visits by Rex the Sav-A-Saurus, entertainment by a mariachi band and dancers, live remote broadcasts by local Spanish-language radio stations, Mexican food and other giveaways. The credit union also had Spanish-speaking staff on hand to explain its products and services. Community CU said it opened 37 new accounts during the fiestas.
