OAK RIDGE, Tenn. — A failed attempt to steal a Y-12 CU ATM Christmas morning left a Bobcat tipped over in a ditch and the money machine badly damaged.
Preliminary details indicate the crooks tried to pull loose the ATM with a Bobcat and drag it away. Crumpled ATM debris was scattered in a grassy field behind the standalone drive-through ATM located in the parking lot of a small shopping center.
Brown tracks led a few hundred feet away from the ATM's location to the tipped-over Bobcat. The ATM's safe appeared to have a chain wrapped around it.
