LAS VEGAS – In this city of big winnings, one member of Clark County CU hit the jackpot Tuesday–a $56,000 share of the credit union’s annual bonus dividend/interest rebate.
The unidentified commercial member earned a 13% payout on three accounts, one paying him as much as $41,000–one of the largest single dividends ever accrued by a single credit union member.
The member had a loan in excess of $2 million on commercial property in metropolitan Las Vegas. That loan was on the books all year and earned a dividend of $41,000 by itself.
The member also had a personal account with a mortgage-related product, as well as a joint account with other individuals. Three total accounts earned a total dividend of $56,000.
The 38,500 members of the $625 million credit union received an average of $179.48, and 1,200 members received more than $1,000, as part of the credit union’s $7 million payout.
This year’s payout was based on the earnings for 2007 for Clark County CU. “It was quite a nice year,” Mark Andrews, Clark County CU vice president, told The Credit Union Journal yesterday.
