With all of the state-level winners announced by their respective leagues, Credit Union National Association has unveiled the national winners for the Dora Maxwell, Louise Herring and Desjardins awards programs that focus on community service and financial education.
This year’s first-place winners for the Dora Maxwell Award include:
- Community Credit Union, Lewiston, Maine
- United Credit Union, Mexico, Mo.
- San Mateo Credit Union, Redwood City, Calif.
- Hanscom Federal Credit Union, Hanscom AFB, Mass.
First-place winners for the 2016 Louise Herring Award include:
- Nueva Esperanza Community Credit Union, Toledo, Ohio
- Appalachian Community Federal Credit Union, Gray, Tenn.
- Educational Systems Federal Credit Union, Greenbelt, Md.
- Associated Credit Union, Norcross, Ga.
This year’s first-place winners for the Desjardins Youth Financial Education Award include:
- Community Credit Union, Lewiston, Maine
- CORE Federal Credit Union, East Syracuse, N.Y.
- DOCO Credit Union, Albany, Ga.
- CommonWealth One Federal Credit Union, Alexandria, Va.
- Altra Federal Credit Union, Onalaska, Wis.
First-place winners for the 2016 Desjardins Adult Financial Education Award include:
- Community Credit Union, Lewiston, Maine
- Carolina Foothills Federal Credit Union, Spartanburg, S.C.
- Financial Center First Credit Union, Indianapolis
- Firefly Credit Union, Burnsville, Minn.
- The Rocky Mountain Chapter of Credit Unions in Colorado
The Maine Credit Union League also received a first-place award for its efforts to improve financial literacy for both youth and adults.
Winning credit unions will be recognized at the 2017 CUNA Governmental Affairs Conference, held Feb. 26 - March 2, in Washington.
