CUNA Makes $110K In March Political Donations

CUNA said it made $110,255 in campaign contributions last month, the most so far this year. The biggest contributions last month went to: Sens. Evan Bayh (D-IN), $6,695; Harry Reid (D-NV), $6,500; Barbara Boxer (D-CA), $5,000; Reps. Heather Wilson (R-NM), $10,000; William Jefferson (D-LA), $5,000; and House Majority Whip Roy Blunt's leadership PAC, Rely on Your Beliefs, $5,000.

CUNA also spent more than $70,000 on commemorative coins it sells to raise political action funds. CUNA's political action committee raised $145,505 and spent a total of $188,835 in March, leaving it with $204,029 cash on hand. The PAC has spent more than $445,000 through the first three months, half of it to buy commemorative quarters, which it resells to raise political funds.
