WASHINGTON — A spending agreement approved by Congress late Monday included several CUNA-recommended credit union priorities, according to a statement released by the trade association.
Included in the omnibus appropriations package is an annualized $226 million earmarked for the Community Development Financial Institutions Fun (CDFIF), as well as $1.2 million for the Community Development Revolving Loan Fund (CDRLF).
Also included in the agreement was a joint $10 million request from CUNA and the World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU) for the cooperative development programs of U.S. AID, along with $265 million for microenterprise and microfinance.
"We're delighted that lawmakers took note of our requests that these programs of vital importance to credit unions be funded and carried on," CUNA president and CEO Bill Cheney said in the statement. "The efforts that will go forward as a result of this funding will ultimately help more people realize their financial goals through credit unions."
