SOUTHBOROUGH, Mass. The Massachusetts CU League said this afternoon that Dan Egan, who has headed the league for more than 30 years, as well as the New Hampshire and Rhode Island leagues the past two decades, will retire December 13.
Egan will be retiring as the President and CEO of these three trade groups as well as New England Credit Union Services, the jointly owned firm which manages and provides services to the three trade associations.
Egan served as an assistant District Attorney in Massachusetts upon graduation from Boston University Law School. He later entered private practice of law and became general counsel to the Massachusetts League in 1981, before being named president of the League in 1984.
He sits on the board of America’s Credit Union Museum in Manchester, N.H., is a former CUNA Board member and past president of the American Association of CU Leagues, and has been instrumental in building close credit union relationships with key Washington politicians like Barney Frank, the former chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, and newly elected Sen. Elizabeth, among others.
A committee made up of members of the Boards of the credit union trade groups from the three states has selected O’Rourke & Associates to conduct a nationwide search to find Egan's successor.
