CENTRALIA, Wash. – DNA taken from a suspect in a January heist at TwinStar CU when the vault was emptied connects a suspect arrested in the case to as many as seven other hold ups, including an incident at the same branch last year.
DNA samples taken from duct tape used to mask two tellers during the January heist match samples taken from Michael Lar, a suspect arrested in the case, according to Centralia police. In that robbery, the suspect accosted two tellers as they arrived to open the branch. The tellers were bound with duct tape and placed in the vault. The loss from the robbery was significant.
Ongoing investigations in several other jurisdictions continue to produce evidence that Lar may be linked to as many as seven other bank robberies in the western states area, police said.
