Fierro has spent the past 18 years with eDOC, starting as an account manager and working his way up to his current position. He oversees the business’s day-to-day operations, manages the executive leadership team and interacts with clients and partners to ensure the organizaiton’s objectives are achieved.

"I am excited to accept this position as the Interim CEO and I look forward to working with the chairman, the board and the excellent management team at eDOC Innovations with whom I have worked for many years,” Fierro said in a statement on Wednesday. “I have every confidence that we will maintain the business's current momentum and continue to deliver our strategy focused on becoming the best integration partner, providing safe, compliant, and intuitive solutions to the credit union industry.”

In the statement announcing Fierro's appointment, Randy Karnes, chairman of the CUSO, called him "a quality leader" who had been on the team for years, adding “It’s only natural, given his attention to client needs, his knowledge of our operations and staff and his desire to push eDOC forward, that he would take the reins during this next phase in our firm. Change is opportunity. I am sure Mark will make the most of it alongside our management team in the next few months.”

In a follow-up email to Credit Union Journal, Karnes said the CUSO's leaders see the next six months "as a classic interim period," during which time the board will evaluate whether to focus the search for its next CEO internally (including considering Fierro as a candidate) or to widen their search. "Should we decide to move forward with an active open call for candidates, we will announce that in the next 120-180 days," added Karnes.

Fierro has spent 32 years working in the credit union industry, including serving as chief financial officer of Sharon Credit Union prior to joining eDOC.
