Employee Gets Brief Prison Sentence For $58,000 Embezzlement

POTTSVILLE, Penn. – A former employee at Hidden River CU on Wednesday was sentenced to six months to 23 months in prison for to stealing more than $58,000 from the credit union.

Jennifer Doyle, 32, took investment interest checks and did not allocate them to the correct accounts, according to prosecutors. Instead, she deposited the checks in her own accounts and used different methods to hide the deposits.

The discrepancies were discovered during a routine audit in which Doyle participated.

Doyle pleaded guilty in June to theft by deception, and tampering with records or identification.
