Firm To Test Web-Based PINDebit

IRVING, Texas - (12/21/05) -- Pay By Touch said its ATM Directunit plans to test-pilot technology early next year that will allowconsumers to use their debit cards and PINs to make purchasesonline. The technology, which uses a screen-based 'floating PINpad' to allow cardholders enter PINs with the click of a mouse,instead of key entry, will be tested by ACCEL/Exchange, a unit ofFiserv. The system works by downloading digitally unique code tothe consumer's desktop, then creating a process of multi-factorauthentication. Company officials said they are negotiating withother networks to introduce the technology. ATM Direct waspurchased out of bankruptcy earlier this year by Pay ByTouch.
