Fiserv Expands Check SettlementNetwork

BROOKFIELD, Wis. - (08/12/04) -- Fiserv said it signed three moreregional banks to provide settlement services for its fledglingcheck clearing network, expanding the network to 19 states, inpreparation for full implementation of Check 21. The new partnersin the clearing network are Bank of the West, San Francisco,Midwest Independent Bank, Jefferson City, Mo., and TIB-TheIndependent BankersBank, Dallas. They join United Bankers Bank,Bloomington, Minn., in providing the beginning of the settlementsystem for the Fiserv Clearing Network. Fiserv is the nation'slargest third-party check processing provider and operates almost50 check processing centers across the country.
