TROY, Mich. – Area credit unions and banks are teaming up to fill the local food pantries, which are reporting a major shortfall in supplies this holiday season.

The 14 credit unions and banks will accept food and cash donations at their combined 226 branches to benefit Gleaners Community Food Bank, which supplies 400 pantries, shelters, churches and soup kitchens. The credit unions and banks have set a goal of $500,000 to help the area’s hungriest.
Among the participants are: Bi County PTC FCU, Detroit Edison CU, FME FCU, Lakes Community CU, Michigan Catholic CU, Oakland Catholic CU, Northwood CU, Oakland County CU, Peoples Trust CU, as well as Franklin Bank, 1st National Bank, Huntington Bank, and the PrivateBank.
