MADISON, Wis. – Robert Curry, the president and CEO of CUNA Mutual Group from 1973 to 1988, died last week in Madison at the age of 84. The cause was a heart attack. Curry was named the company's fourth CEO in 1973, succeeding Charles Eikel, Jr. , and remained in the job until he retired in October 1988 and was succeeded by Richard. Heins. During Curry’s tenure at the helm, CUNA Mutual assets grew from $152 million to $1.35 billion, and the number of employees increased from about 400 employees to more than 3,000 worldwide, including 1,900 in Madison.
