Fort Hood Military FCU, Pentagon FCU Merge

Members of Fort Hood Military FCU here have voted in favor of a merger with Alexandria, Va.- based Pentagon Federal Credit Union. All 5,985 members of Fort Hood Credit Union will become members of the $5.9-billion Pentagon Federal Credit Union, effective Sept. 1, 2003 and their accounts will be converted to corresponding Pentagon FCU accounts on the first of November.

Pentagon FCU noted there are more than 42,000 active military in the Fort Hood-Killeen area, and another 38,000 dependents and retirees. Pentagon Federal Credit Union currently has more than 2,400 members in the Killeen area. Pentagon FCU plans to staff the former credit union's branch on base with 10 employees. Support operations, including 24/7 phone service, accounting, collections, ATMs, and so on, will be incorporated into daily operations at Pentagon FCU's three service centers nationwide.
