Four New Names Surface

Several candidates have apparently thrown their hats into the ring for the NCUA board seat currently occupied by Chairman Dennis Dollar, whose six-year term on the three-member panel expired last April, according to several sources.

Among them are: Timothy O'Neil, a director of the Federal Housing Finance Board, which oversees the 12 Federal Home Loan Banks; Rosie Holub, president of the Missouri CU Association; Louis Jimenez, president of Montauk FCU in New York City; and Troy Stang, public relations director for the Texas CU League.

Although the selection process is still ongoing, each of the individuals has expressed an interest in the post and has put out feelers to gauge interest in their candidacy, sources said.

The position opened up again last month when the frontrunner, Gilbert Gonzalez, an assistant secretary at the Department of Agriculture, withdrew his name from consideration. Afterwards, Dollar told the White House he would stay on into next year while they searched for a successor. NCUA board members are nominated by the President and must be confirmed by the Senate.
