HarborOne CU's special loan for lead paint abatement received a special citation during the Mass Housing agency's 10th annual Home Ownership Awards ceremony.
The CU made a total of 59 low-interest 'Get the Lead Out' loans in 2005 for a total of $926,000 to help low- and moderate-income homeowners remove lead paint from their homes.
That's almost a quarter of all the special lead paint loans made in the state.
Since the program was created in 1997 there have been a total of 3,382 loans made for $61.4 million.
