Heartland CU’s Longtime CEO To Retire

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – Heartland CU said Ed Gvazdinskas, who has worked with the credit union for 38 years, will retire as CEO of the $230-million credit union in February 2014.

Tom Lex, chief operations officer of Heartland, will succeed Gvazdinskas.

Gvazdinskas began his career as an assistant manager in 1975. He was promoted to vice president in 1979 and to president and CEO in 1983, when Heartland still was known as Sacred Heart CU and had just $18 million in assets.
