ALEXANDRIA, Va. — NCUA Vice Chair Rodney Hood received a gold medal during a farewell reception in his honor. Chairman Michael Fryzel presented him with the medal and congratulated him on his excellent performance during his time with the administration.
"His foresight and diligence on risk mitigation came at a time when much of the financial world was devoting its energies elsewhere; his commitment to credit union professional development, embodied in his 'Blueprint 20/20' initiative, was impressive," Fryzel said of Hood. "The vice chairman's service was an essential part of NCUA's success in recent years, and his contributions will be missed."
Former President George W. Bush appointed Hood to his seat on the NCUA board in the middle of November 2005, and he was shortly thereafter named vice chairman. Prior to his time at the regulator, Hood served in the Bush Administration as the associate administrator of the Rural Housing Service - a division of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Before he entered the public sector, Hood worked for an insurance company in North Carolina and two of the world's largest banks, Wells Fargo and Bank of America. Though his term expired in April, Hood continues to serve until his successor - expected to be former NCUA Board Member Deborah Matz - is confirmed.
