HEATH, Ohio – Hopewell FCU said its longtime president, Alan Smith, will retire in October and be succeeded by James Johnson, the $70 million credit union’s executive vice president and chief operations officer, as new CEO.
Smith has worked at the credit union for the past 27 years and spent 43 years in the credit union movement. He led the credit union in converting its charter from an occupational to a community credit union in 1994 and was honored as the Credit Union Professional of the Year in 1999 by the Ohio CU League.
Johnson, of Heath, has been at Hopewell since 1996 and in the financial services industry for 37 years.
