SANTA ANA, Calif. -
Instead of offering signature holiday loans, OCTFCU offers its members a different "thank you" each year. This year it's a four-month CD with a higher interest rate, depending on tenure of the member. "We do something at the end of the year for participating and being a member," Mendez said. "We change it up every year so that it's not an expectation. Last year for a thank you we gave members 25 basis points to use almost anywhere they wanted on a short-term loan." The thank-you promotion is usually offered from November until early January.
Orange County Teachers FCU does not offer consolidations loans after the holidays - or at any time. Instead, it offers an attractive option for members who want to transfer balances from a higher-rate credit card.
