Insider takes the helm at small Mass. credit union

Athol Credit Union in Athol, Mass., heads into 2020 with a new president and chief executive.

Courtney Fifield has replaced Kevin J. Miller, who held that position for 21 years. Credit union officials did not say whether Miller had retired or moved on to a different institution.

Fifield joined the $93 million-asset institution in 2010 as branch manager and BSA officer and worked his way up to EVP and VP of lending.

“We are pleased that Courtney is willing to take on this important role and we feel Courtney’s work ethic and values are a perfect complement to that of Athol Credit Union’s,” board chairman Herbert Wheeler said in a statement posted on the Cooperative Credit Union Association’s website.

Athol Credit Union posted a loss of nearly $470,000 during the first three quarters of 2019, according to its most recent call report, a significant increase from the $55,000 loss recorded during the same period one year prior.
