DES MOINES, Iowa – The Northwest Area Foundation has awarded the Iowa CU Foundation $165,000 to expand its Credit Union Family Partnership Individual Development Accounts program.

The CU Foundation will use this award to increase the number of Iowa credit unions offering financial education and savings accounts to low-income families.
Individual Development Accounts are tax-free accounts that provide matching funds deposit accounts for low income people.
The Northwest Foundation, based in St. Paul, Minn., supports low income projects and organizations in eight states.
