Kanjorski Aide To Head NCUA’s Congressional Affairs Office

ALEXANDRIA, Va. – NCUA on Tuesday announced it hired Todd Harper, longtime legislative aide to congressional credit union champion Paul Kanjorski of Pennsylvania, as director of its office of congressional and public affairs.

Harper, who helped draft HR 1151, the 1998 CU Membership Access Act, and several credit unions bills since then, including the corporate credit union bailout bill, will succeed John McKechnie, the well-known former CUNA lobbyist who is leaving NCUA to return to congressional lobbying.

Harper spent 14 years as senior aide to Kanjorski, who lost his bid for a 14th term in November, and also served a staff director for the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Capital Markets, Insurance and Government Sponsored Enterprises., which Kanjorski chaired.

McKechnie was former chief lobbyist for CUNA and headed the NCUA office for the past five years.
