BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Legacy Community CU, which has been going around town the past six weeks calling on individuals to DoSomethingGoodToday, is founding its own Do Something Good Foundation that will help fund good deeds that are nominated through the DoSomethingGoodToday.com website and continue the promotion of random acts of kindness and good deeds in the Birmingham area.
The credit union’s DoSomethingGoodToday team has been cruising the city for the past month-a-and-half in their custom Dodge Journey, “paying it forward” and performing good deeds. Many people were lucky enough to be at the right place at the right time and receive free gas, or have their meals or groceries paid for by the DoSomethingGoodToday team.
The DoSomethingGoodTeam was part of an anonymous viral campaign by Legacy as part of the unveiling of its new tagline: “Do Something Good With your Money,” which is helping the $320 million credit union celebrate its 55th anniversary.
Legacy shed its anonymity and revealed itself as the force behind the campaign yesterday with a free gas giveaway at a local Shell station.
The viral marketing campaign – so named because it is meant to be contagious – proved to be so popular, Legacy is making it a permanent feature with the creation of the non-profit Legacy For Good Foundation, which will continue to do random acts of goodness.
