Lending Bloomed in 2004

MADISON, Wis. - (02/03/05) -- Credit union loan portfolios swelledby 10.4% in 2004, the highest growth rate in four years, accordingto CUNA. At the same time, share growth slowed dramatically fromthe record highs of the previous few years to just 5%, the lowestgrowth rate in five years. Credit cards loans led growth for thefull year with a 4.4% increase; while home equity loans increased2%, and adjustable-rate mortgages by 0.9% and unsecured personalloans at 0.6%. The average capital ratio held steady at 10.9% atyear-end; while the delinquency ratio was a healthy0.69%.
