Longtime CoastHills CU Board Member Passes Away

LOMPOC, Calif.—CoastHills CU board member A.R. "Pete" Reed is being remembered after passing away at the age of 72 following a lengthy battle with cancer.

Reed joined CHCU's board in 2006 as a result of a merger with Atascadero FCU and in 2014 was named an emeritus board member. Prior to joining the board at CoastHills, Reed served for 25 years as an AFCU board member, including two stints as chairman of the board.

Hugh Rafferty, chair of the CoastHills board, called Rafferty's leadership and expertise "instrumental" in the AFCU-CoastHills merger process.

"His contributions to CoastHills over the past decade were crucial in stimulating oru growth and expansion throughout the central coast," Rafferty said in a statement.

A longtime Rotary Club member and president of his local chapter for two years, Reed was self-employed as an accountant, running a bookkeeping and tax services firm in Atascadero starting in 1976. He is survived by Cynthia, his wife of 48 years, and their two children.
