Maine's CUs Raise $600K-Plus

While Maine's credit unions have earned a well-deserved name for themselves for their extraordinary efforts to fight hunger in the state, the Maine league is reporting that collectively, Maine's credit unions raised more than $600,000 for community-service projects in 2005, a new record.

Although the final figures for the 2005 Maine CUs' Campaign for Ending Hunger have not been completed, this total includes more than $225,000 raised for hunger relief; $120,000 for Tsunami victims, $56,000 for Hurricane Katrina relief, $60,000 for Special Olympics, $25,000 for the Maine Children's Cancer Program, more than $100,000 in scholarships, $15,000 for youth financial literacy and thousands more for smaller organizations.
