COLUMBIA, Md. - (04/12/05) -- The D.C. CU League announced Mondayit has ended its six-year contract with the Virginia CU League andagreed to merge with the Maryland CU League, instead. Thecombination will create a trade association representing about 160credit unions surrounding the nation's Capital. The deal must stillbe approved by the member credit unions of each league, expected inJuly, according to Michael Beall, president of the Maryland league.The Virginia league has run the D.C. league out of an office inAlexandria, Va., down the street from NCUA headquarters, under amanagement agreement for the past six years. The name of thecombined organizations will be the Maryland and District ofColumbia Credit Union Association.
