Member Pistol-Whipped During Takeover CU Heist

WEST COVINA, Calif. -- Two men robbed a First Financial CU branch and pistol-whipped a member during a takeover-style robbery Friday morning.

A female employee was also struck during the robbery, but she suffered no visible injuries and declined to be taken to a hospital, police said.

Employees and members were told to lie on ground by two men who entered the branch in hoodies and ski masks. The men entered yelling and at least one had a gun, police said. At one point a robber jumped on the counter.

A member trying to enter the branch confronted one of the robbers near the door and there was a struggle, police said. The man, who was in his 30s, was pistol-whipped and suffered abrasions to his head. He was taken to the hospital to be treated for his injuries, police said.

The robbers ordered a female manager in her 30s to open cash drawers and a vault. Police declined to say much money was taken.
