Microphone Operation For Dummies

Taylor Mason returned as the emcee of CUNA's Future Forum and shared a little tidbit from his days as a champion on the television show "Star Search." Mason, a ventriloquist and comedian, related how there was some trouble during his initial rehearsals on the set.

The program used a boom microphone, which had to be held directly over the person speaking in order for the person's voice to come through. During the tech rehearsals, Mason's voice was coming through just fine, but for some reason, his dummy's voice wasn't being caught by the microphone.

The problem: the boom operator kept moving the mike over to the dummy when the dummy was "talking."
