National Association of State Credit Union Supervisors names CEO

The National Association of State Credit Union Supervisors has named Brian Knight as its next president and CEO.

The trade organization’s board said Knight, currently executive vice president and general counsel for NASCUS, will take the helm Jan. 1. He will succeed Lucy Ito, who has been in those roles since 2014 and is set to retire at the end of this year.

“Brian is uniquely qualified to lead NASCUS given the breadth and depth of his knowledge about the state and federal credit union systems and his keen sense of emerging issues in the consumer financial services marketplace,” Rose Conner, chair of the NASCUS regulator board and administrator of the North Carolina credit union division, said in a press release.

Knight joined NASCUS in 1998 as a director of regulatory affairs, and was appointed as the organization’s first internal general counsel in 2007.

“I am honored and humbled to accept this position and build on the achievements of Lucy and those leaders that have come before me,” Knight said in the release. “NASCUS is a unique and vitally important thread in the fabric of the credit union system and the broader financial services sector."
